Phoenix Comicon 3-D Proposal

During last year’s Phoenix Comicon, I was honored to take part in a friend’s plan to propose to his now fiancĂ©. A few months before the convention, Dan messaged me that he was going to propose to his girlfriend during the event when they cosplayed as the Joker and Harley Quinn. Dan was going to pop the question to Kailyn in the Hall of Heroes then come down and pick up a custom piece from my booth commemorating the event
I’ve known the couple for a while so when I designed a 3-D piece I predicted how the proposal would look and how Kailyn would react. If you compare the photo of the proposal to the 3-D piece, I think I did a pretty good job especially when you take in mind that it was built months before the convention.
I wish Dan and Kailyn the best in their upcoming wedding!

secret project set for Phoenix Comic Fest!

I've been working on a secret project that will come to fruition in time for Phoenix Comic Fest (formerly Phoenix Comicon). I just redid the entire piece because I wasn't 100% happy with how the first draft turned out but now I think it's perfect! Here is a sneak peek of one small detail. I will be posting more work in progress pics later. So excited!

3-D portrait

Now that Christmas has passed, I can finally post these pieces! These two 8x8 3-D paper dioramas were commissioned as a Christmas gift and they feature the customer's parents. I was also asked to frame the original reference picture in matching colors. It's hard to tell, but the photograph floating in the second frame is raised the same distance from the background as the 3-D piece.
